Mary Kay Cabot wants the Browns to take Blackmon

Mary Kay Cabot, the beat writer for the Browns in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, hopes her hometown team grabs wide receiver Justin Blackmon with the fourth overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft – even if Trent Richardson is still available.

Cabot points out that the very solid running back Doug Martin out of Boise State will probably be available when the Browns get another selection at the 22nd or 37th overall slots. “That would give Cleveland the best wideout in the draft and a dynamic, exciting back in Martin to add to Montario Hardesty, Brandon Jackson and Chris Ogbonnaya,” she writes.

As Cabot explains, a top-flight wide receiver can make or break a football team these days.  “Look at what No. 4 overall pick A.J. Green did for Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton last season: helped him get to the playoffs.”

In these final hours before the draft, NFL writers and analysts from coast to coast have put in their two cents and Cabot has made a very logical and eloquent argument for the Browns to acquire the number one wide receiver prospect in this year’s draft.
